I am very excited to be a part of SAIS. SAIS is a wonderful place, with wonderful people of all ages in our community of students, teachers, staff, and parents.
SAIS is unique. In my three decades as an educator, I have never before worked at a school where students are as engaged with what they are learning and doing. My own daughters are having the best learning experience of their lives at SAIS as well. At SAIS, we make learning fun and real, with students involved in creating, building, inventing, presenting, and demonstrating all the time. Our students are learning how to present and speak with people of all ages, becoming comfortable with expressing themselves while also building their language skills. They are learning how to be leaders and thinkers, inventors and problem-solvers. Through our Project-Based Learning approach, students investigate topics deeply and think about issues and create products that are connected to the larger world beyond our classrooms.
At SAIS we are also intentional about fostering a strong sense of community and attending to the social and emotional needs of our students. We have weekly community meetings where we bring students together, we have practices for appreciating one another, and we provide opportunities for students to learn to empathize with and help others.
Our students love SAIS as much as SAIS loves them, and we welcome visitors and prospective students and families to explore the magic of our school and how we make learning real.
