SAIS students will present a defense of their learning during the Spring of their senior year. Students practice for this defense throughout their years at SAIS by presenting their work as part of our project based learning approach. We use every opportunity we can find for students to practice sharing their learning with other people through our exhibitions of student learning, student-led conferences, Maker Faires, and other public venues. Here is an example of a defense from Envision Education. A member of the current SAIS leadership team and our Director of Instruction, Kenny Purser, was a founding high school principal with Envision, piloting their portfolio defense system.
