The 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a global plan of action to drive economic prosperity and social well-being while protecting the environment. Countries established the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) — to boost efforts to achieve the goals.

Shekou SDG Summit was the first gathering for schools from throughout the region, to build capacity, connect, and create meaningful connections to the UN’s global goals. SAIS teachers and leaders participated in a two-day workshop, designed to create a community that expands what is possible in education, service, and community on September 13th and 14th.

Four of our middle school students presented at the Shekou SDG Summit. This event was one of many opportunities to get our students out in the community representing the school and developing their leadership and presentation skills.

Shenzhen American International School Principal Dr. Laura Flaxman gave a presentation about growth culture, and Assistant Principal Nate Abbott and Director of Instruction Kenny Purser also shared their expertise about Project Based Learning. SAIS was excited to be in the school community to boost the efforts to achieve the global goals.
